Week 8

Week 8 Start ‘Em Sit ‘Em

Quarterbacks
Must Start ‘em – Philip Rivers @ New England Patriots
Points Scored:
Rank:
The run game hasn’t been something that has worked well for the Chargers this season. The Chargers do have a good set of WRs and a pair of TEs. The Patriots are giving up the most PPG to the position and Rivers was at one point one of the top tier QBs. Chargers should be in a gunfight with the Patriots.

Start ‘em– Cam Newton @ Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Points Scored:
Rank:
Tampa is in the top 10 for yards given up to quarterbacks. They’ve given up 11 touchdowns passing and 1 on the ground. The Bucs are also 3rd in the league for most PPG given up. Cam had a couple good games with back to back 300+ yards.

Start ‘em– Andy Dalton vs Indianapolis Colts
Points Scored:
Rank:
The Colts are 6th in PPG given up to QBs. Indianapolis has given up an average of 300+ yards a game. Indianapolis just lost Hooker for the season which was one of their better defenders. Look for this to be a bounce back game for Dalton.

Must Sit ‘em – Matt Moore vs Baltimore Ravens
Points Scored:
Rank:
Matt Moore came in and looked good against the Jets in brief time. Matt has been around the team for a little bit now and knows his WRs, but Jimmy Smith is one of the best in the league. It’s a short week to prepare, on the road, and Baltimore is 3rd in the league in fewest PPG given up.

Sit ‘em– Matt Stafford vs Pittsburgh Steelers
Points Scored:
Rank:
It’s a Sit Matt fest this week. The Steelers are 2nd fewest PPG behind Jacksonville who is on a bye this week. The Steelers through the season (7 games) have given up the fewest yards of any team that has played 7 games. Also, the 4th fewest TDs (6), which is actually lower than their interception number (7).

Sit ‘em– Deshaun Watson @ Seattle Seahawks
Points Scored:
Rank:
This is one where I’ll probably get ripped… The Seahawks are 4th in fewest PPG given up. Along with that, they’ve given up on average of 200 yards passing per game & 17 yards rushing a game to QBs. They’ve allowed as many touchdowns as interceptions through the air at 5 and have given up 0 on the ground.

Running Backs
Must Start ‘em– LeGarrette Blount vs San Francisco 49ers
Points Scored:
Rank:
The Eagles just lost Jason Peters on the season and they’re going up against a team that just gave up 200+ yards from scrimmage against Ezekiel Elliott. The Eagles are going to look to get Vaitai some confidence by running the ball to left side and making it work, along with a lead that they should be playing with in this game. San Francisco is giving up the most PPG to RBs. They’ve given up 9 total TDs and 1,325 total yards.

Start ‘em– Joe Mixon vs Indianapolis Colts
Points Scored:
Rank:
The Colts are in the top 10 for most PPG given up. If they’re to get the pass game going they’re going to need the running game to get going to establish some sort of rhythm the team can work with for the rest of the season. The Colts have given up 9 total TDs and 1000+ yards to RBs.

Start ‘em– Jay Ajayi @ Baltimore Ravens
Points Scored:
Rank:
Excuse me as I go throw up. The Dolphins have Matt Moore starting at QB against a team with a pretty good secondary. To keep Moore upright, this run game is going to have to be stellar. The Dolphins have won games when they’ve used Ajayi heavily. The Ravens have given up 907 yards and 5 TDs in 7 games.

Must Sit ‘em– Isaiah Crowell / Duke Johnson vs Minnesota Vikings
Points Scored:
Rank:
The Browns don’t know what they’re doing with their QB situation and the Vikings are first against RBs. The Vikings have given up the fewest PPG, only 2 total TDs and a total of roughly 100 yards per game.

Sit ‘em– KAREEM HUNT vs Denver Broncos
Points Scored:
Rank:
The Broncos are 0.3 behind the Vikings for the fewest PPG given up. The Broncos are giving up 3 yards per carry and have allowed 0 touchdowns on the ground. Charcandrick West should be returning for this game, which is where the Broncos have allowed 2 touchdowns on only 28 yards per game through the air.

Sit ‘em– Jalen Richard / DeAndre Washington @ Buffalo Bills
Points Scored:
Rank:
The Raiders are going to be without Marshawn Lynch. The Bills are the 3rd team giving up the fewest PPG to RBs. They’ve allowed only 700 yards and 3 touchdowns through their first 6 games. Also, the Bills are coming off back to back wins at home against the Broncos and Buccaneers.

Wide Receivers
Must Start ‘em– Devin Funchess @ Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Points Scored:
Rank:
Tampa is the worst team against WRs and Funchess has been playing well lately. Funchess is 2nd on the team in targets, catches, and yards. Funchess is 1st on the team in touchdowns. Tampa is giving up 200 yards to WRs per game.

Start ‘em– Pierre Garcon @ Philadelphia Eagles
Points Scored:
Rank:
The Eagles are top 5 in PPG given up to WRs. If Darby is still missing from the lineup Garcon should continue to be the most targeted WR on the team. The Eagles have given up 182 yards per game. The 49ers should be down in this game and playing catch up as they are giving CJ Beathard his 2nd start.

Start ‘em– Tyrell Williams @ New England Patriots
Points Scored:
Rank:
Rivers spreads the ball around so it should be easy for the Chargers to feed Allen, Williams, and Henry/Gates when this game is going back and forth. The Patriots are 3rd in the league for most PPG given up, giving up 200 yards a game to WRs, and a TD per game.

Must Sit ‘em– Golden Tate vs Pittsburgh Steelers
Points Scored:
Rank:
The Steelers are giving up the fewest PPG to WRs. They’ve given up fewer than 100 yards per game and only 4 touchdowns through their 7 games. The Steelers are roughly giving up 8 receptions a game, 88 yards a game, and a touchdown almost every other. So temper your expectations against the Steelers.

Sit ‘em– Dez Bryant vs Washington Redskins
Points Scored:
Rank:
If Josh Norman is playing in this game, the Cowboys will have to find offense through Zeke or another WR. The Redskins are 4th in fewest PPG given up to WRs. The Redskins are giving up on average to receivers 8 catches and 121 yards to receiving groups. They’ve only allowed 4 touchdowns.

Sit ‘em– Jarvis Landry @ Baltimore Ravens
Points Scored:
Rank:
Jimmy Smith has been one of the best CBs in the league thus far. The Ravens are 2nd in fewest PPG given up to WRs and have allowed only 3 touchdowns in 7 games. Also, with that being said they’ve given up only 107 receiving yards per game. Look for DVP or Kenny Stills to be utilized more.

Tight Ends
Must Start ‘em– Kyle Rudolph @ Cleveland Browns
Points Scored:
Rank:
The Browns are giving up the most PPG to TEs. They’ve allowed 5 touchdowns in 7 games. The Browns are also giving up on average 7 receptions and 69 yards per game. If Diggs is unable to go for the third consecutive week, Rudolph should be the focal point.

Start ‘em– Jason Witten @ Washington Redskins
Points Scored:
Rank:
The entire NFC east is awful against TEs except for the Cowboys. With that being said, the Redskins are giving up the 3rd most PPG to the position. The Redskins just gave up 5-89-1 to Philadelphia’s Zach Ertz.

Start ‘em– George Kittle @ Philadelphia Eagles
Points Scored:
Rank:
A weak point for the Eagles defense has been through the air. The Eagles are giving up the 4th most points to TEs and just gave up 12-131-2 to Davis and Reed. CJ Beathard and Kittle are former Iowa teammates that have been reunited in San Francisco.

Must Sit ‘em- Rob Gronkowski vs Los Angeles Chargers
Points Scored:
Rank:
The Chargers are giving up on average 4 catches and 50 yards a game but have allowed 0 touchdowns to TEs. The Chargers are 1 of 4 teams through this point in the season to not have allowed a touchdown. They are the 4th best against the position.

Sit ‘em– Jack Doyle @ Cincinnati Bengals
Points Scored:
Rank:
The Bengals are the 3rd best against TEs and are giving up 3.5 catches and 38 yards per game. The Bengals have only allowed 1 touchdown thus far. They should be looking more outside to T.Y. and Moncrief.

Sit ‘em– Cameron Brate vs Carolina Panthers
Points Scored:
Rank:
The breakout of OJ Howard and the combination of how well the Panthers play against TEs is a situation to stay away from. The Panthers are 6th against TEs in fewest PPG given up. Other than the 2 TD game from Ertz on a Thursday night, they’ve given up 2 touchdowns. They’ve also given up only 3 catches and 34 yards per game.
